Sireen El Zaatari,
My research involves the analysis of occlusal molar microwear signatures of Neandertals, Pre-Neandertals and early Upper Paleolithic specimens from various sites in Europe, the Middle East and north Africa to better understand the effects of climatic change and variability on the their subsistence patterns.
I have also applied dental microwear analysis for the dietary reconstruction of other extant and extinct primate species in addition to fossil hominins and recent human populations.
Aside from dietary reconstruction, my research interests also include human osteology, especially as it pertains to bioarchaeology, and human evolution, especially modern human origins.
