Fei PengFei Peng

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Human Evolution at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

My interests are focused on the technological analysis of lithic artifacts. I am also interested in the origin and spread of anatomically modern humans, Middle to Upper Paleolithic Transition in Asia and Europe. The subject of my Ph.D. research is the locality 1 assemblages of the Shuidonggou site. In order to trace this technology, I try to understand the chaine operatoire variations of the blade technology in North China, and compare this with other contemporary Chinese sites and Altai’s, like Denisova, Kara-Bom, Jinsitai, Shibazhan, etc. In order to look at the relationship between human behavior and paleoenviroment, I try to collect samples for pollen analysis and dating work.
