2002-2005 Heidelberg Radiocarbon laboratory; projects:

  • Closing the Roman Gap (P.Kuniholm, Cornell University), extension of eastern Mediterranean tree-ring chronologies by 14 C wiggle-matching of floating sections.
  • EMRCP (Eastern Mediterranean Radiocarbon Comparison Project, S.Manning, Reading – UK, Cornell University ), high precision 14 C series to determine regional 14 C gradients, dating of the Santorini eruption.
  • Fieldwork to find subfossil lateglacial wood in Northern Italy
  • Development of combustion of large wood samples using an oxygen bomb

2005-2007 ESF Euroclimate Project

  • Organisation of fieldwork
  • Fieldwork in Italy, Romania and Hungary
  • High precision 14C dates for chronology building and 14C calibration
  • Extension of tree-ring chronologies into the Late Glacial
  • Coordination of radiocarbon work for the tree-ring laboratories of Stuttgart-Hohenheim, Zurich and Aix-en-Provence.
