Research Interests

Fields: Archaeology

The main interest: Dynamics of human interaction with past environments over a long-term and their role in shaping our
behavioral and cultural trajectories.
Specialty: Stone artifact record, experimental approaches.

Main research projects:
Ain Difla Rockshelter, Jordan,
Principal Investigator (with Zenobia Jacobs of the University of Wollongong, Tobias Lauer of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology): Hominin adaptation during the Middle-to-Late Pleistocene in the Southern Jordan Rift Valley and their inter-regional (SW Asia, NE Africa, and Arabia) biogeography.
Current stage: preparing a manuscript on preliminary dating from the first field season.

Middle Atbara Paleolandscape, Sudan,
Principal Investigator (with Ahmed Nassr of Al-Neelain University in Khartoum): Landscape use and expansion of early Homo sapiens in north-east Africa.
Current stage: preparation for the project.
