Matthias Meyer (Group leader)

Ayinuer Aximu-Petri (Lab manager)

I am spending much of my time taking care of the ancient DNA cleanroom, where I keep the lab organized, train new students and perform experiments. In addition, I am a member of the sequencing group and operate our in-house DNA sequencers (Illumina, 454 and Sanger technologies).

Jesse Dabney (Graduate student)

My research is focused on increasing the recovery of ancient DNA from long dead organisms, primarily during DNA extraction and amplification. I also investigate routes of in vitro DNA repair of highly degraded ancient molecules.

Marie-Theres Gansauge (Graduate student)

I am developing and improving methods for DNA library preparation from ancient DNA. This work is aiming to improve our understanding of DNA degradation patterns and ultimately increasing the yield of DNA sequences from ancient specimens.

Petra Korlević (Graduate student)

I am currently developing extraction techniques that could minimize the impact of human and microbial contamination, primarily in ancient samples. I plan on using these techniques in studying genomic variation in Neanderthals.

Isabelle Glocke (Graduate student)

I help with the improvement of methods for DNA library preparation and also apply these methods on a variety of interesting ancient human samples.
