photo of Aida AndrésMy main research interest is the genetic evolution of humans and closely related species. My research aims to advance our understanding of how natural selection has shaped the affinities and differences that exist among individuals, populations and species. I am particularly interested in the influence that balancing selection has played in the evolution of the genome of humans and other primates, and in its role in the maintenance of phenotypic diversity within populations.
