Research Interest

I perform my PhD at the interface of population genomics and immunology. My project is a hypothesisdriven, candidate-gene approach aimed at understanding the influence of natural selection in the evolution of two different immunity-related complexes. Specifically, we are using next-generation sequencing to assess the patterns of polymorphisms of over 50 genes in 202 HapMap samples representing six different human populations.

My goal is to describe signatures of natural selection in our genes of interest, identify the selected variants and infer their subsequent phenotypical consequences.
