Tao Chen Bio CV Publications
I am a PhD student in the Department of Human Evolution at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). I am also a member of Max Planck Research Group on Plant Foods in Hominin Dietary Ecology.
My research interests are mainly focused on plant microfossil analysis, including phytolith and starch grains. The subject of my doctoral research is about extracting and investigating rice phytoliths from two cores in East China Sea in order to illustrate the process of rice domestication and the relationship between rice cultivation and climate change over the past 15,000 years. In Leipzig, I want to extend my scope further to microfossil analysis in ancient dental calculus.
