In the section 'Observing Behavior' Linda Vigilant, Christophe Boesch & Svante Pääbo (amongst others) discuss the links between our and the great apes' evolutionary pasts. As Linda talks about male relationhsips in chimpanzees, students from the Vigilant lab demonstrate how DNA is collected and extracted from feces.
