Current research

Doris I started my PhD at the MPI-EVA October 2014 under Drs. Tobias Deschner and Fabian Leendertz as part of the research group “Sociality and Health in Primates” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). We aim to investigate the links between sociality, health, and disease in wild primates and how this effects fitness.

My current research focuses on understanding what factors influence transmission of malaria parasites (Plasmodium spp.) circulating in habituated wild chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) in Taï National Park. I am also interested in non-invasive means of measuring and monitoring health of wild animals.
