  Use:

useConstruction: More than ¼ of all known plants are used for the construction of objects such as houses, boats, baskets, mats and other tools that are in every-day use.
Here: a rope made from the fiber of Manniophyton fulvum and a mat made from the outer layers of Maranthochloa ssp.

Cosmetics: Plants are used for cosmetics. Colors, creams or odored substances are used when time or context allow. Primiparous women that remain at home for a six months retreat are made up regularly.

Food: Plants conduce either directly or indirectly to nutrition. Most fruits and leaves are consumed directly. Some plants, however, are used to poison arrows for killing animal prey or as water additive to paralyse fish. Specific plants may also serve as substrate for caterpillars that are harvested for consumption.

babyHygiene: Plants for hygienic application are known by men & women. Of particular interest is the time of the retreat of primiparous women. Here, the bodies of both mother and infant undergo a variety of care that may help to increase infant survival.

Medicine: More than ¼ of all plants are known to serve medicinal needs. Here, Papa Cameron digs out a root that is used against Malaria.

othersOther: Resin of trees, particularly of Canarium schweinfurthii, is used for local candles.
In addition, the category ”other” subsumes contexts that turned out to be of minor local interest, such as plants used as jewellery or for decoration.
