Student Research Assistant

The Lise Meitner Research Group, Technological Primates, at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology seeks applicants for a position as

Student Research Assistant (Bachelor or Master)
(min. 35 h/month)

About us:
The Technological Primates Research Group examines the evolution of technology through the study of tool-use in three non-human primate species (chimpanzees, long-tailed macaques, bearded capuchin monkeys) and early hominins. Comparative studies across primates provides the opportunity to understand the social and ecological variables that influence the emergence and development of tool use.

Main tasks:
As part of our team, you will be involved in archiving field data and tool material collected at our various field sites in Ivory Coast, Thailand and Brazil. Video recordings, tools and tool remains are to be cleaned, coded and scanned, ultimately producing a usable digital format of our collection.

(Parts of the tool collection can be muddy, we are looking for someone who does not mind).

Criteria for applicants:
- enrolled at a German University (Bachelor, Masters, or equivalent)
- solid English skills (at least B-level, preferably higher)
- experience with excel and word
- reliable and ready to provide a high level of commitment
- sustained attention to detail during repetitive tasks
- able to report back on work progress and communicate effectively
