Fire Simulation Setting

Fire and the advent of human control of fire is an important topic of research in our department. As part of our experimental archaeological work, we have developed a fire simulation setting equipped with a high-temperature electric heater (Micropyretics Heater International). This equipment allows for programmable temperatures and heating durations, with the application of constant temperature throughout its 26 cm diameter. The heater can be positioned on top of an experimental box with temperature recording devices positioned at several depths and locations (see image below). This experimental setting can be adapted for other purposes according to the desired experimental design.
