Expansion of Modern Humans

Linking the research topics of the origins of modern humans in Africa and the reconstruction of Neandertal adaptations is the expansion of modern humans with the subsequent replacement of archaic populations. Here our emphasis is mainly the excavation and dating of key transition period sites in southwest France, central Germany, southeast Europe and in the Levant.  Additionally, we are working to resolve questions concerning which hominin(s) made the so-called transitional industries using new techniques.
