Configure WLAN "eduroam" - Windows 7
- First click on the wireless icon in the taskbar and select Network and Sharing Center, then Manage Wireless Networks
- If eduroam is not already listed, click on Add, otherwise right-click on eduroam and then on Properties
- Click on Add and enter eduroam as Network name. Security type select WPA2-Enterprise and the Encryption type is AES.
- Proceed with Next and in the following window select Change Connection Settings.
- Choose the Security-tab and compare the settings with the screenshot below.
- Then click on Settings.
- Now set Validate server certificate and also Connect to these servers with edurad.eva.mpg.de.
- ChooseT-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2 under Trusted Root Certification Authorities (if the Root Certificate T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2 is missing, download it here and install it with double-click).
- Click on Configure and untick the checkbox Automatically use my Windows logon name
- Set Enable Identity-Privacy and insert eduroam
- Click on OK
- Check the Advanced settings. Ensure that Specify authentication mode is ticked and User authentication is selected.
- Now you are ready to establish the connection
- Go to the wireless icon in the taskbar and click on the eduroam network.
- Enter your credentials (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de) and you are connected.
Configure WLAN "eduroam" - Windows 10
- First you have to install the Root Certificate TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2. Download from here.
- Install it with double-click and follow the instructions below.
- Choose Current User and the Automatically select the certifcate store based on the type of certificate.
- After installing the certificate you have to activate the new WI-FI profile. First download it here and save it directly on "C:\" or ask your department's IT-Staff to send the profile via email.
- Now press Windows-Key+R and type in cmd
- Now press Ctrl+Shift+Enter and answer with yes to open an administrative Command Prompt
- Insert the following command to install the eduroam Wi-Fi profile:
netsh wlan add profile filename="C:\WiFi-eduroam-MPIEVA.xml"
- Close the Command Prompt and delete the Wi-Fi profile file.
- Now you are ready to establish the connection. Go to the wireless icon in the taskbar or open your Charms Bar/Settings/Wi-Fi and click on the eduroam network.
- Enter your credentials (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de) and you are connected.
Configure WLAN "eduroam" - Mac OS X
- First download the Wi-Fi configuration profile for Mac OS X here or ask your department's IT-Staff to send the profile via email.
- Double-click on downloaded file eduroam2019_mpi_eva_profile.config and the system settings Profiler of Mac OS X appears.
- Click on Continue and proceed the next question also with Continue. Now insert your credentials (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de) and finish with Install.
- Go to the Wi-Fi status icon on your menu bar or open the "system preferences" got to "network" and select "eduroam" as wireless network.
- That's it, you are connected.
Configure WLAN "eduroam" - Linux Network Manager
- Go to the network status icon on your menu bar (right upper side) and select under Wi-Fi the tab Wi-Fi Settings.
- an overview of available Wi-Fi networks appears.
- select eduroam or the small gear to setup.
- Select WPA & WPA2 Enterprise within Wi-Fi security and for Authentication select Tunneled TLS
- For Anonyomous identity type eduroam@eva.mpg.de
- Download root certificate T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2 and select file under CA certificate
- Insert your credentials (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de and your password) and finishing with Connect
- That's it, you are connected.
Configure WLAN "eduroam" - Android
- First download the root certificate T-TeleSec Global Root Class 2 from here.
- Open Files or Filemanager on your Android phone/tablet and select the downloaded certificate
- Insert as Certificate NameT-TeleSec Global Root Class 2 and choose under Credential use Wi-Fi
- The new root certificate is now installed
- Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings on your Android phone/tablet: Settings App > Wireless Controls > Wi-Fi Settings.
- Choose Wi-Fi network eduroam
- Now you have to configure access to the Wi-Fi network.
- Select EAP-MethodPEAP and for Phase 2 authenticationMSCHAPv2.
- Now select under CA certificate the previously installed T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2 and insert under Domaineva.mpg.de
- Insert your Username (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de) and password. Under Anonymous identity insert: eduroam@eva.mpg.de
- Press Save and you are connected.
Configure WLAN "eduroam" - iPhone/iPad
- First download the configuration profile direct on your iPhone/iPad from here or ask your department's IT-Staff to send the profile via email.
- After you download the profile, you’ll see the message "Profile Downloaded". To install the profile open the Settings app. Tap on Profile Downloaded
- Tap on profile and on Install
- Sometimes you'll need to confirm the installation with your passcode.
- Ignore the warning and click Install. Confirm again with Install.
- Now insert your credentials (USERNAME@eva.mpg.de) and password.
- Finish with Done.
- Go to Wi-Fi settings in the Settings app and select eduroam as wireless network.
- That's it, you are connected.
