abstract = {{On the one hand, this article summarizes part of the long-standing debate around the syntax of numeral phrases in East Slavic. On the other, it sheds light on that debate by presenting new fieldwork data from adnumerative forms in West Polesian, a little-known East Slavic variety. Adnumeratives are a special counting form that nouns headed by a lower numeral ({\textquoteleft}two{\textquoteright}, {\textquoteleft}three{\textquoteright}, {\textquoteleft}four{\textquoteleft}) take, but which have no meaning on their own. Even though adnumeratives exist marginally in other Slavic varieties, they are robust in West Polesian. The article describes the very unusual morphological and syntactic properties of adnumeratives in West Polesian and addresses their ambiguous morphosyntactic nature.}},
