This statement applies to one-piece implants. However, on the basis of the current literature, no recommendation can be made for two-piece implants. The low plaque accumulation, high biocompatibility, and esthetic advantages of ceramic speak for its use in the maxillary anterior region. However, there is little information available on the treatment of complex cases such as the edentulous maxilla with ceramic implants and metal-free dentures. In this article, the clinical aspects of the restoration of edentulous maxillae with metal-free dentures are comprehensively examined, both in theory and on the basis of clinical cases involving restorations with both a fixed and a removable denture. %K dental implant, edentulous maxilla, one-piece implant, zirconia, ceramics, ZIRCONIA ORAL IMPLANTS, SINGLE-TOOTH REPLACEMENT, ONE-PIECE, DENTAL IMPLANTS, TITANIUM IMPLANTS, FRACTURE-RESISTANCE, SUBMERGED IMPLANTS, CERAMIC IMPLANTS, OVERDENTURES, RELIABILITY %J IMPLANTOLOGIE %V 28 %N 4 %& 315 %P 315 - 325 %I Quintessence Publishing Deutschland %C Berlin %@ 0943-9692
