The Incas and their Origins:
A Cross-Disciplinary Conspectus
Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June, 2014
N.B. Immediately after this symposium is a related event on Rethinking the Andes~Amazonia ‘Divide’.

Participation in both symposia is by invitation only.

Date: Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June, 2014

Place: Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig (Germany)

Brief Information:

This symposium continues a series aimed at fostering a meeting of minds across the various disciplines — particularly archaeology, linguistics, genetics and history — that seek to uncover the story of the independent hearth of civilisation that arose in the Central Andes. Many of the main cross-disciplinary issues revolve around our understanding of the Incas, hence this new symposium to focus on them. The objective is to converge the different but complementary perspectives from all disciplines into a new, more holistic and coherent understanding of the Inca “phenomenon”: who the Incas were, their immediate and ultimate origins, and the scale and nature of their impacts on populations across the Andes.
