Transparency is given throughout the setup of
the project. This is due to the participation of governmental
and non-governmental
staff members, the progress reports for administrative and
scientific authorities as well as the accessibility to the
facilities used by the project (e.g. study site, laboratory,
herbarium).
This setup allows sharing experiences, ideas
and achievements with and within the country of origin already
in their process of emerging. Beyond the basic research striving
for the conservation of the local biodiversity, priority
is put on the evaluation and projection of possibilities
of economic use of natural herbal plants within and by the
country of origin.
Across all these levels, the project follows the guidelines
of the Rio-Convention:
“The objectives of this Convention, to be pursued in
accordance with its relevant provisions, are the conservation
of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components
and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising
out of the utilization of genetic resources, including by appropriate
access to genetic resources and by appropriate transfer of
relevant technologies, taking into account all rights over
those resources and to technologies, and by appropriate funding.” (© UNEP
