SEI-Hostel

If you would like to stay with locals, you might be able to find a place at a shared apartment as an interim tenant (“zur Zwischenmiete” in German). Although most ads look for people who would like to stay for a couple of months, some communities will be happy to rent out their room(s) to short-term tenants as well. Possible starting points for a search include (in German only):

WG gesucht

Das virtuelle Schwarze Brett der Uni Leipzig

Mitwohnzentrale

Another possibility would be CouchSurfing.

Financial support

We have made a serious effort to keep financial barriers to participation as low as possible. Therefore, we regret that we are not able to provide any financial support, and we encourage you to look for other sources of funding. We are also not able to cut the participation fee any further for people who cannot stay for the entire duration of the Summer School. Participants from abroad may qualify for one of the programs listed in the central scholarship database of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), for example, depending on country of origin.

Travel arrangements

Participants are required to make their own travel arrangements to and from Leipzig. Visitors from abroad should make sure to meet the entry requirements and have a valid visa (a short-stay tourist visa is sufficient).

Leipzig has an international airport, from where trains connect to the city center in 15 minutes.

Public transportation

Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB), the local public transportation company, runs a network of trams and buses that make most points of the city easily accessible.
