Hörsaalgebäude (“Lecture hall building”)
Universitätsstraße 3-5
04109 Leipzig

Most of the adjacent workshops and the reception will take place at the

Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (MPI EVA)
Department of Linguistics
Deutscher Platz 6

Warming up

If you're arriving on Wednesday, you may want to meet other conference participants for dinner on the day before the conference. So we reserved 30 places at Auerbach's Keller (Leipzig's most famous restaurant right next to the Old Townhall) for a pre-conference gathering at 19h00. It's a big restaurant, and it should have space for more people.

Welcome reception

On Thursday, August 15 at 7.30 p.m. there will be a reception at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology.
John Benjamins Publishing Co. will kindly sponsor finger food, salad, soup and drinks for registered participants.

Dinner

The conference dinner will be on Saturday, August 17 at 7.30pm.
For the dinner we made arrangements in the restaurant “Ratskeller”, a typically German restaurant in the Neues Rathaus ("New Townhall").
The price for the dinner is 30 EUR and includes a warm/cold buffet and a welcome drink. All other drinks will be on your own expenses.
The dinner must be paid in advance by bank transfer, together with your registration fees (unless you have difficulty transferring money, see registration).

Travel arrangements

Participants will make their own travel arrangements to and from Leipzig. Visitors from abroad should make sure to meet the entry requirements and have a valid visa (a short-stay tourist visa is sufficient). [Check whether you need a visa for Germany.]

Public transportation

Leipzig has an international airport, from where trains connect to the city center in 15 minutes.

Leipzig has perhaps the most impressive railway station building in Germany, and convenient high-speed train connections from Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and Dresden.

Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB), the local public transportation company, runs a network of trams and buses that make most points of the city easily accessible.

Accommodation

Please make your own arrangements for accommodation and contact the guesthouses and hotels yourself. Below you will find some recommendations. Some hotels have blocked rooms for the ALT conference.
