Capacity
building
The project engages both scientific and
technical staff within DRCongo that obtains an application-focused
education supported by both local and foreign collaborating
institutions. The goal is to foster a new generation
of academics & non-academics in the DRC, in order to
form a team that will be able to conduct high quality research

Collaboration
with governmental and non-governmental institutions
The project intends
to set up, cultivate, use and link collaboration with both
governmental and non-governmental institutions of different
disciplines. Priority is given to institutions active within
the host country, but links to other African countries

Conservation
The project contributes both directly
and indirectly to the conservation of the Salonga National
Park in general and the SW-part including the populated
fringe areas in particular. [more]

Convention on
Biological Diversity (Agenda 21)
Transparency is given
throughout the setup of the project. This is due to the
participation of governmental and non-governmental staff
members, the progress reports for administrative and scientific
authorities as well as the accessibility to the facilities
used by the project (e.g. study site, laboratory, herbarium).
