Augusto Dalla Ragione

Having reached anthropology from a background in history and demography, I have a particular interest in research questions revolving around the demographic transition and its causes across space and time. Supervised by Dr. Daniel Redhead and Dr. Cody Ross, I am currently working on a field project in Benin, West Africa, to collect census data, social network data, and data from experimental economic games in two rural communities. Hopefully, this will allow us to better understand the dynamics of human fertility decision-making in a social setting which is not yet fully industrialized. More generally, I am fascinated by topics such as population-environment dynamics, cultural group selection, the evolution of religion, among others.
