Welcome to our homepage!

The department of Behavioral Ecology at the Institute of Biology of the University of Leipzig is linked through a bridge professorship to the Department of Human Behavior, Ecology and Culture of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. We are primarily interested in the interplay between behavior, ecology, genetics and fitness which we investigate in several species of primates (e.g., rhesus macaques, crested macaques and vervet monkeys), but also in other mammals (e.g. meerkats) and birds (e.g. barn swallows).
