I am an anthropologist interested in culture and the social transmission dynamics of prosocial and environment-related behavior. I use video, photography, and audio recording as both compliment and counterpoint to written documentation and analysis and mathematical models of culture. In the department, my primary mission is to support the work of other anthropologists in video documentation of communities in affiliated field sites. My own field work is in northern British Colombia, working in traditional First Nations territories with both indigenous and non-indigenous people, looking at the intersections of sovereignty fights, environmental defense, and revival of traditional resource relationships and governance, through both participant observation and documentary photography and film.
