Core Cognition

In this research area, we investigate the core cognitive capacities that structure an individual’s common sense understanding of their environment. We study simple and more complex understanding of numbers, objects, spaces, and agents, as well as meta-representational capacities such as meta-cognition, sense of self, and analogical reasoning. Finally, we study the integration of various sources of information in complex decision-making. We aim to understand the development of uniquely human capacities and those we share with other great apes in these different core cognitive domains.
