Ashley comes from sunny South Florida in the United States. She received her B.S. in Chemistry from Florida Gulf Coast University, and her M.S. in Biochemistry at Iowa State University where she studied phytoglobins and their role in anaerobic nitrite metabolism. In between earning her two degrees, she was a high school chemistry teacher for five years. Ashley brings experience in veterinary diagnostics from her years working at the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in the USA. While studying in Iowa, she met her future (German) husband which led her to relocate to Germany in 2019. Her free time currently revolves around her two young children, Eleanor and Otto. Their favorite activity is going to Leipzig Zoo, so while you may find her in the lab Monday through Friday, you'll probably see her at the zoo on the weekend!
