HF Radio Mail
You have received an email from one of our field sites by radio mail. Radio mail uses short wave radio (HF) for transmission. Radio mail is reliable, but the connection is very slow by modern standards. To give you an idea - we seem to average about 1...3 kilobyte/minute sending mails. Keeping emails as small as possible is therefore crucial.
Please help us by following a few simple rules when sending emails to our radio mail system:
- Use plain text for your emails only. HTML mail, common on Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc, takes much more time to transmit than plain text, because of the HTML formatting tags.
- Do not quote the sender when replying to an email received.
- Do not send any attachments, like photos or documents without prior notice to Jörg Noack
(noack@[>>> Please remove the text! <<<]eva.mpg.de, phone +49(0)341-3550120). - Please put the name of the receipient into the SUBJECT field. Field sites may have only one email address per site.
Thank you for your consideration!
