Iker is a posdoctoral researcher from the Basque Country. After finishing a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of the Basque Country, Iker decided to hang the lab coat and study a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at Aarhus University (Denmark). With this new-found passion, Iker stayed at Aarhus University to pursue a PhD focusing primarily on primate phylogenomics. During their studies, Iker became interested in topics encompassing genomics, population genetics, method development, theoretical population biology, and data visualization. Now, Iker is part of the Genes and Behavior group at the Department of Primate Behavior and Evolution. Iker works in the Amboseli Baboon Research Project, aiming to bridge the gap between the observational data collected over 50 years and the newly generated baboon genomic data. You can check out Iker’s website for more information on current and past research: https://rivasiker.github.io.
